Welcome to class!
Some of you may or may not know who I am. This is my fith year at the college. I came to college from industry where I was a web developer/programmer for 3 years. I have been doing web development for approximately 9 years. I have seen many changes in those seven years and I am excited to see where we are headed. I do still develop whereas it is the only way to stay current and competent.
I am passionate about web development and teaching so career here at CSI is a wonderful fit. I am looking forward to this year; we have updated the curriculum to ensure that you are exposed to the latest technologies. As a teacher of technology, I am dedicated to being a lifelong learner, like you I am a student. The term lifelong learner is no longer a catchphrase when talking about technology, it is a reality. As students of technology you must understand this very simple fact; technology is growing exponential each year. To be successful we have to try and keep up, welcome to the family.
My undergraduate degree is Applied Computer Science with an emphasis in Communications. I was trained as a software engineer trained is systems development. I am a big proponent of the methodology and have incorporated it into the Web Developer degree that we offer. My alma mater is a small private institution in Oskaloosa, Iowa; William Penn University. I am currently pursuing a Master’s of Education. I am finishing up my Master of Education degree this semester…yeah!
In August of 2006, my wife and I welcomed our first child, she has been a blessing to our lives, we wouldn’t know what to do without her, and in April of 2008 we received our second blessing with a baby boy. My wife used to teach math teacher at Twin Falls High School but is now staying home with our two kids.
I also coach football at Twin Falls High School. We would love to have your support. That being said, I leave the college everyday at 3:00 with a few exceptions. I am in my office most of the day available for help. Please don’t be afraid to call or come see me.
Hopefully you know a little bit more about me. I am eager to learn more about you.
Let’s make it a great semester.
Ryan
